California drought visualized with open data

What does the California drought look like through the lens of data?

The U.S. Geological Survey’s Center for Integrated Data Analytics  is taking open data about the drought from federal, state and local agencies and turning it into interactive visuals that show exactly where the lack of rainfall is hurting the most.

Start at the USGS’ California Drought Visualized With Open Data page and keep scrolling to see more.

The more you scroll, the more you’ll see, eventually ending up with links to the data sources themselves and an invitation to take the code that makes up the site and do what you want with it on the project’s GitHub page.
